Artist Michalis Makroulakis was born on May 31, 1940, in Ermoupolis, the Cyclades, where he lived until 1957 when he moved to Athens. Ηe studied painting, scenography, and costume design at the Doxiadis School under the supervision of artists such as Giannis Tsarouchis, Spyros Vassiliou, and Thanasis Apartes. Initially, he worked as a set designer in various theatrical scenes in Athens, and in 1971, on the occasion of painting a portrait of the Queen of Iran Farah Pahlavi, he traveled to the Asian country where he settled and lived until 1978. He started exhibiting in 1963 and since then he has presented his work in both group and solo exhibitions, in Greece and abroad (Germany, Iran, etc.)
